Healing at the Deeper Layers of the Brain Where Words Can't Reach
Sometimes insight isn't the missing piece.
You already understand a lot about yourself. What hasn't shifted is how it feels — in your body, in your nervous system, in the reactions that still catch you off guard.
The tightness in your chest. The heaviness in your stomach.
The sudden waves of anxiety or emotion that seem to come from nowhere.
The sense that something is still held, even when you can't quite name it.
You don't have to be able to explain it or put it into words.
Brainspotting works with what the body is already holding.
What is Brainspotting?
“Where you look affects how you feel.”
Brainspotting uses specific eye positions to access the subcortical brain, where emotional experiences often exist beyond language and conscious thought.
By holding a particular eye position while staying connected to your internal experience, you allow space for your brain and body to process what you're experiencing without having to analyze or explain everything.
It's a quieter, more internally focused process than most therapy. And for many people, it reaches what conversation alone seldom could.
Deep work for people who live in their heads
For verbal, analytical clients, insight can sometimes become another layer of protection. Brainspotting offers a way to work beyond the narrative by accessing deeper emotional and somatic experiences where reflexive responses, body-based memories, and implicit beliefs may be held. You don’t have to explain everything for something to shift.
Expansion Brainspotting
Brainspotting isn't only about processing pain. It also supports healing, expansion, and reconnecting with parts of yourself that survival patterns may have disconnected over time. Expansion Brainspotting activates positive neural networks connected to safety, confidence, and possibility, helping you move toward life, not just away from pain.
Expansion Brainspotting can be especially helpful for:
Clients who feel fragile, easily overwhelmed, or disconnected finding a sense of internal safety and grounding before any trauma processing begins
Healing the deep belief that something is fundamentally wrong with you through an experience of your own worth that's felt in the body, not just understood in the mind
Moving toward who you want to be and the life you want, not just recovering from the past
Expanding into goals, confidence, and possibility, because healing isn't only about what you've been through but what becomes available on the other side
What Brainspotting Therapy Can Help With: Trauma, Anxiety, and More
A different entry point for pain that hasn't fully shifted.
Brainspotting is effective for:
Trauma and PTSD
Anxiety, panic, and chronic stress
Depression and emotional pain
Relational wounds
Performance blocks
Body-based symptoms or sensations connected to unresolved experiences
Many clients report increased emotional clarity, reduced distress, improved nervous system regulation over time, often describing feeling lighter, clearer, and more grounded, as if something heavy inside finally released.
Why I Offer Brainspotting Therapy in Oklahoma City and Texas
Some pain lives in the body. It needs to be reached there.
After years of clinical work, I added Brainspotting for the deeper emotional patterns of anxiety and trauma that benefit from more than cognitive understanding alone.
Used alongside EMDR, Brainspotting offers another pathway into emotional processing, especially for experiences that still feel unresolved in the body.
This isn't about choosing between EMDR and Brainspotting. I use both approaches thoughtfully, depending on what you're working through and which approach seems to support the deepest and most meaningful progress.
What to Expect in a Brainspotting Session
Quieter than most therapy. Often more powerful.
We identify an issue and the body activation around it, then find the brainspot using a pointer or your own gaze.
We stay with the brainspot using focused mindfulness and attunement, allowing your experience to unfold naturally.
Your brain may process through memories, emotions, images, sensations, or shifts in body awareness.
Bilateral music (optional) through headphones can support the process.
You can talk as much or as little as you want, and you remain in control throughout.
EMDR vs Brainspotting
EMDR
Structured 8-phase protocol
You are not required to share your full story
Target a specific memory, image, belief, emotions, & body sensation.
Use rhythmic bilateral stimulation
Brief verbal check-ins after each set
Brainspotting
Flexible frame setup and client-led approach
You are not required to share your full story
Begin with a specific issue, emotion, and/or body sensation
Use fixed eye position(s) & optional bilateral music
Fewer verbal check-ins
When you want to go further — in concentrated, uninterrupted time.
Brainspotting intensives follow the same focused format as EMDR intensives — extended sessions over concentrated days — and are often used alongside EMDR intensive work. For pain that's held in the body and hasn't fully moved, the intensive format gives the uninterrupted space needed for deeper emotional processing and resolution.
FAQs About Brainspotting Therapy in OKC | Across OK & TX
-
Brainspotting is a brain-body therapy that helps process trauma, anxiety, and emotional pain stored in the nervous system. During a session, you focus on a distressing issue while I help you find an eye position linked to that activation. Holding that gaze allows the brain and body to process and release stored tension so the memory feels less overwhelming.
-
Research is growing and shows promising results for reducing PTSD symptoms, anxiety, depression, and stress responses. While EMDR has a larger research base, Brainspotting is considered an emerging trauma-informed approach supported by clinical outcomes.
-
I have completed Brainspotting Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3, Phase 5, Brainspotting with Relationships, Expansion Brainspotting, and continue to deepen my skills through ongoing consultation. I am committed to attending advanced Brainspotting trainings to further strengthen my skills and provide the highest quality care.

Yes. Brainspotting can be done through secure online therapy. I'll guide you through the same process, and you can use headphones if you choose to incorporate bilateral music. Some clients also appreciate being able to do this work from the comfort of their own familiar space.
-
Brainspotting is commonly used for trauma and PTSD, anxiety and panic, depression, grief and loss, and chronic stress. It can also help with emotional overwhelm, relationship triggers, performance anxiety, and feeling “stuck” despite insight. Because it works at a brain-body level, it can be especially helpful when symptoms are rooted in past experiences or stored emotional stress.
-
No. You don't have to retell your trauma in detail or explain everything that happened. Brainspotting can work with what you're noticing in your body, emotions, images, thoughts, or sensations in the present moment. I'll guide the process and check in with you as needed, but you remain in control of what you share.
-
Because Brainspotting works at a deep nervous system level, sessions can feel emotionally intense and you may feel tired or more sensitive afterward. Some people find the quiet, inward focus unfamiliar or prefer a more structured approach.

Both therapies help the brain process trauma, but they work differently. EMDR uses a structured protocol and bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, or tones) to reprocess specific memories. Brainspotting uses fixed eye positions linked to emotional activation and focuses on deeper, body-based processing. EMDR is more structured, while Brainspotting is more flexible and somatic. I use both depending on your needs.
